Travel - Recommended Travel Route

- You can travel in a boat on the surface of water but should not allow water to enter into the boat. You should not allow the attachment to worldly objects enter into your boat of life.

PuttaparthiPrashanthi Nilayam is part of the small town Puttaparthi located in the Anantapur District of Andhra Pradesh (Lat. 15° N, Long. 78° E).

  • The easiest way to arrive is by air to Puttaparthi (6 km) or Bangalore (180 km) (see Flying). Typical travel times include 10 hours from Europe, 12 hours from Africa, the Far East and Australia, 19 hours from North America and 22 hours from South America.
  • Taxis take you from Bangalore Airport in about 3 to 4 hours to Prashanthi Nilayam (see Taxi). A daily public bus service is also available from Bangalore Bus Terminal to Puttaparthi operated by APSRTC (Andhra Pradesh State Road Transportation Corporation).
  • Trains connect Puttaparthi on a daily basis with all parts of India. A new railway line linking Bangalore and Puttaparthi has been completed in the year 2000 (see Train).
  • There are also daily busses available to Puttaparthi from locations like Anantapur, Bangalore, Brindavan, Cuddapah, Dharmavaram, Hindupur, Hosur, Karim Nagar, Kadiri, Chennai (Madras), Machilipatnam, Nellore, Proddatur, Nandyal, Ongole, Penukonda, Secunderabad, Tirupathi or Vijayawada.

Travel Tips

The weather in South India is usually very hot in spring (March to May). The winter months November to January are more comfortable.
